Omega Watches for a Man
Omega Watches for a Man
Omega Watches for a Man
With a reputation for excellence, Omega watches for a man are the perfect marriage of style and quality. With over 150 years of experience, the Switzerland based Omega Watch company has made a name for itself as one of the premier watchmakers in the world, and Omega prides itself on making the type of precision timepiece for which the Swiss are famous
Omega History
Omega was founded by Louis Brandt in 1848, when Brandt set up his fledgling watch company in the town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Only 23 years old at the time, young Brandt set about assembling his pocket watches by hand with parts purchased from craftsmen and then traveled around Europe to sell them. Upon his death, the company passed to his two sons, who gave the company the name Omega in 1894 and moved company headquarters to Bienne. Brandt's sons also increased the company's scope to include manufacturing the parts of the watch as well as assembling them. When they both died in 1903, the company passed to Brandt's grandsons. In 1930 Omega merged with another Swiss watchmaker, Tissot, and the SSIH company was born. In the 1980s SSIH merged with yet another Swiss corporation, ASUAG, to create ASUAG-SSIH, which was later taken over and renamed The Swatch Group. The Swatch Group continues to be Omega's parent company today. Since the company's early days, Omega's reputation has continued to grow. The 1894 Omega pocket watch made a splash in its day for its quality and styling. During World War II the Omega watches for a man became popular among soldiers. Today Omega's fashionable and dependable Speedmaster is the watch of choice for Agent 007, James Bond, and many celebrities from film, sports and music adore their Omega watches.
Over the years Omega watches have been an integral part of several major historical events. Omega watches have kept time at more than twenty Olympics games, where precision timing is key. In 1965 NASA chose Omega watches as their official watches, and since then Omega watches have kept time for several astronauts on space missions, including trips to the moon.
Constellation Omega Watches for a Man
Attractive Constellation watches are available in stainless steel and red and yellow gold with the option for details like a mother-of-pearl dial or diamond encrusted dial. The Constellation collection includes chronometer watches that have gone through precision testing, quartz and perpetual calendar watches, which can even keep the correct date in leap years.
De Ville Watches
The De Ville line offers many fashionable watches for men. Buyers can choose from chronograph styles, with tiny dials to measure small time periods, quartz, chronometers, and GMT watches for travelers that make it easy to tell what time it is back home. In addition to the standard fare, the De Ville line contains handsome watches with large roman numerals and square faces. In 1999 Omega introduced a De Ville watch with their co-axial escapement, hailed as a revolutionary development in watchmaking. The co-axial escapement uses a low friction system and doesn't require lubrication, which has always posed difficulties in watch designs.
Seamaster Watches
Omega's Seamaster line offers several classy sports watches for the adventurous man on the go. Made from durable materials like titanium, gold, steel, leather or rubber these watches are designed to withstand an active lifestyle and are perfect for water sports. The Seamaster collection contains a number of watches with special attributes, like a regatta countdown timer or water resistance down to 1000 feet.
Speedmaster Watches
The Speedmaster collection of Omega watches for a man is a group of sporty, reliable watches. It was a Speedmaster chronograph that was worn on the first mission to the moon, the only brand to pass NASA's demanding tests. Speedmaster offers many styles including GMT watches, a watch that indicates the moon phase and a racing chronometer.
Specialty Omega Watches
Omega also offers several attractive specialty Omega watches for a man with unique and eye-catching designs, including the Jewelry, Museum, Skeleton and Tourbillon lines.
